Fun Colorado Adventure Vacations in the Rockies

If you love the great outdoors, you can’t beat a vacation in the Colorado Rockies. There are so many activities that you can try and many beautiful places to discover.

Estes Park is a good place to base yourself for exploring the Rocky Mountain National Park. You can choose from a variety of activities like horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing, canoeing, white water rafting and lots more. There are fun outdoor activities to suit all the family.

If you are a nature lover, you will love the guided hikes with a park ranger. Along the walk, he will share stories about the environment, explain how to spot wildlife and how they conserve it. The Rocky Mountain Conservancy offers educational classes and bus tours like elk expeditions, rock climbing lessons, hiking, birding and even geocaching.

If you are travelling with children, they can join in the fun by being a Junior Ranger in the National Park. In the village, they have many more adventures for kids that will keep even the most resistant kids entranced.

When in Colorado, you can’t miss visiting the pristine mountain lakes. You can explore the lakes on foot by following the marked hiking routes. There is a loop around Sprague Lake that is not too taxing that the whole family can walk together. For those who are up for a tougher challenge, try the trek to Chasm Lake which you will find at the foot of Longs Peak.

Alternatively, take a horseback tour and your horse will lead you to the most spectacular scenery that you only see in the National Geographic magazine. Bring along your camera and you will create lots of new memories.

If you live in a city, you probably don’t get to see the night sky lit up with stars. Here in the Colorado Rockies, there is no light pollution. In fact, the Rocky Mountain National Park is a designated International Dark Sky Park. It is a great place to spend some time star gazing. The Estes Park Memorial Observatory has open days where visitors can get a close-up view of the Milky Way through their state-of-the-art Ritchey-Chretien telescope. A must for fans of astronomy.

If you are an Instagrammer, you can’t beat Colorado for lots of great photo spots, from mountain vistas to the stunning lakes. Make sure you take a trip on the Aerial Tramway to get the best view of the Rockies. You will have so much content to fill your Instagram account for weeks to come.

If you don’t like planning your own vacations, the Next Adventure Company can help you pick the best all inclusive getaway in Colorado.

There are many different types of lodging options in Estes Park. To make it a real Colorado experience, stay in one of the resorts with rustic log cabins and wood burning fires. Other choices range from cottages to condos to 5-star hotel resorts. Most of these places are pet-friendly too, so you don’t have to leave your dogs behind.

If some of the people in your group are not into outdoor adventures, they can spend their days in the village enjoying wine tasting in the wineries, have a spa day and enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of the many restaurants.
